Frequently Asked Questions
What is Dahua WizSense?
Dahua WizSense is a range of intelligent CCTV cameras designed to make everyday motion detection and event review more useful. Supported models can classify people and vehicles, helping the system focus on activity that is more likely to matter. Selected WizSense cameras also provide perimeter functions such as tripwire and intrusion detection. The available resolution, night-imaging and audio features vary between individual cameras.
How does WizSense help reduce nuisance alerts?
Basic motion detection can react to many types of movement within a scene. On supported WizSense cameras, intelligent classification helps the system distinguish human and vehicle activity from less relevant movement, which can make notifications and event searches more useful. Camera position, detection zones and scene conditions still influence performance, so good installation and configuration remain important parts of the system.
Does every Dahua WizSense camera provide colour night vision?
No. WizSense describes the intelligent detection family rather than one specific night-imaging technology. Many WizSense cameras use conventional infrared night surveillance, while selected models add Dual Light or other colour night-imaging options. If retaining colour information after dark is important, compare the night-imaging features alongside resolution and detection capability when choosing a camera.
What is the difference between Dahua WizSense and TiOC?
WizSense is primarily focused on intelligent detection such as human and vehicle classification, while TiOC is designed around intelligent surveillance combined with active deterrence and two-way communication. TiOC is therefore particularly useful where warning lights, audible alerts or remote talk-down are required. WizSense is a strong starting point where the main goal is more relevant motion detection without necessarily needing an active response from the camera.
What is the difference between Dahua WizSense and WizMind?
WizSense is aimed at practical everyday intelligent surveillance, particularly human and vehicle classification and selected perimeter events. WizMind is intended for more advanced surveillance applications and includes specialised analytics on supported models. For homes, shops and many general commercial properties, WizSense can provide the smart detection needed without moving to a more specialised analytics platform.
Which WizSense resolution should I choose?
The best resolution depends on viewing distance, scene size and how much detail you need when reviewing footage. 4MP can suit many general surveillance positions, 6MP provides additional image detail, and 8MP can provide more pixels where fine detail is important. Higher resolution can also increase recorder bandwidth and storage requirements, so the camera should be matched to the overall CCTV system rather than selected on megapixel count alone.
Do Dahua WizSense cameras have built-in microphones?
Selected WizSense cameras include a built-in microphone for recording audio together with the video stream. Other models focus on video surveillance without onboard audio. If recorded sound is important for the location, compare models with a microphone alongside the required resolution, night performance and smart detection features. Local privacy and audio-recording requirements should also be considered when enabling this functionality.
Can Dahua WizSense cameras work with a Dahua NVR?
Yes, when paired with a compatible Dahua NVR. The recorder can provide centralised recording, live viewing and supported intelligent-event functions for the system. When adding WizSense cameras to an existing installation, consider available channels, PoE capacity, recording bandwidth and support for the smart detection functions you want to use. Complete CCTV systems are also available where both cameras and a recorder are required.
