Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Dahua 6MP TiOC CCTV kit?
A Dahua 6MP TiOC CCTV kit combines 6MP security cameras with a compatible PoE NVR in one complete system. The cameras are selected around TiOC active-deterrence and two-way audio functionality, giving the system the ability to do more than simply record an event. These packages are suited to homes, businesses and commercial properties where detailed surveillance, audible or visual warning functions and remote communication are useful.
How does TiOC active deterrence work?
TiOC cameras combine surveillance with active-response features. On supported cameras and configurations, warning lights and audible functions can be used when a relevant event is detected, while built-in audio allows users to listen and communicate remotely. This can be useful around entrances, driveways, loading areas and other locations where making a potential intruder aware that the site is being monitored may provide additional value.
How many cameras do I need?
Start with the areas that need their own continuous view. A smaller home or shop may need cameras covering the front, rear, driveway and another access point, while larger properties may require six or eight cameras for side access, yards, stock areas or multiple entrances. The right camera count depends on the number of important viewpoints and potential blind spots rather than the overall size of the property alone.
Should I choose turret or bullet cameras?
Both styles can provide the 6MP TiOC surveillance and deterrence functionality available within this category, but their physical design suits different locations. Turret cameras offer a compact shape that works well under eaves and on walls, while bullet cameras have a more directional appearance that can suit driveways, boundaries and other defined approaches. The better choice generally depends on mounting position, viewing direction and appearance.
Is a hard drive included with every Dahua TiOC kit?
HDD inclusion varies between packages. Some CCTV kits may include surveillance storage, while others allow the hard drive to be selected separately according to the recording duration required. Storage capacity should be chosen according to camera count, recording settings and how long you want footage retained. If storage is not included with the selected package, a suitable surveillance HDD will be required for recorded playback.
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes, provided the Dahua NVR has spare camera channels, sufficient PoE capacity and support for the additional cameras. Adding cameras can also increase recording bandwidth and storage requirements, so HDD capacity should be considered when expanding the system. If future expansion is likely, choosing a package with additional recorder capacity from the beginning can make adding coverage considerably easier.
What is the difference between 6MP and 8MP TiOC CCTV kits?
The main difference is image resolution. An 8MP system records more image pixels and can provide additional detail where camera position, lens choice and lighting conditions support it, while 6MP provides strong image detail with generally lower recording and storage demands. Both types of system can provide TiOC deterrence and communication features. Choose according to the amount of detail required, the size of the installation and the recorder and storage capacity available.
