How can I set up remote viewing on a Hilook system?

1. Download & install the Hik-Connect app

  1. On your phone, open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

  2. Search for Hik-Connect and install the app.

  3. Once installed, open the app.

  4. On first launch, choose your region/country (important for correct server).


2. Register a Hik-Connect account

  1. In the Hik-Connect app select Register (instead of Login).

  2. Choose whether to use email or mobile number for registration.

  3. Enter your details (region, email/phone, password). Agree to the terms.

  4. You’ll receive a verification code (via email or SMS). Enter it to confirm.

  5. After registration you’ll be logged into the app.


3. Enable P2P / Cloud Service on the HiLook device

  1. On your HiLook recorder go into the menu/configuration (via monitor + mouse or remote).

  2. Navigate to: Configuration → Network → Advanced Settings → Platform Access.

  3. Check the box for Enable Hik-Connect / Cloud P2P.

  4. Create (or note) a verification code – this acts as a password when linking the device to the app.

  5. Save or apply the settings. Wait for the status to show ONLINE.

    • If it shows OFFLINE, check the recorder’s network connection and DNS settings (try 8.8.8.8 for DNS).


4. Add the HiLook device into the Hik-Connect app

  1. In the Hik-Connect app, tap the “+” (Add Device) icon.

  2. Choose the method:

    • Scan QR code (shown in Platform Access page or on the unit’s label), or

    • Enter Serial Number (SN) manually.

  3. Enter the verification code when prompted.

  4. The app will bind the device to your account.

  5. Once added, the device will appear in your list. You can now view live video and playback.


5. Verify P2P connection / remote access

  • Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone so you’re on mobile data and open the Hik-Connect app.

  • Test viewing your cameras.

  • If you can connect and view live, your P2P/cloud connection is working.

  • If not, re-check:

    • The device status in Platform Access (must be Online).

    • Correct gateway and DNS on the recorder.

    • Firmware is current.

    • Router allows outgoing connections (no blocking).
