Product Overview

This turret-style camera is built for eave, soffit, and wall mounting at entrances, driveways, shopfronts, and outdoor building perimeters where both image detail and intelligent detection are needed in a compact form factor. The IPC-T262H-MU delivers 6MP resolution at 3072 x 2048 from a 1/2.7″ Progressive Scan CMOS sensor, paired with dual IR LEDs reaching up to 30m for night-time visibility. Featuring AcuSense human and vehicle detection powered by deep learning, the camera filters out irrelevant motion triggers and focuses alerts on actual security events. Built with 120dB True WDR, it handles difficult backlit conditions at entry points without washing out the image. H.265+ compression reduces bandwidth and storage demand across connected recorders. The built-in microphone adds audio context to recorded footage. With IP67 dust and water resistance and local microSD storage support up to 256GB, the IPC-T262H-MU suits residential and small commercial installations requiring dependable outdoor coverage.

Key Capabilities

6MP Outdoor Imaging

At 3072 x 2048, the IPC-T262H-MU captures enough detail to identify clothing, vehicle types, and entry behaviour at driveways and shopfronts, making each camera position more useful than a lower-resolution alternative would be.

AcuSense Human and Vehicle Detection

Deep learning classification distinguishes people and vehicles from animals, foliage, and other motion sources. This limits alert fatigue at outdoor mounting positions like driveways and side gates where environmental movement is frequent.

30m Dual IR Night Vision

Two IR LEDs extend visibility to 30m in complete darkness. This range covers most residential driveways, courtyard approaches, and small commercial yard access points without requiring additional lighting infrastructure.

120dB True WDR

Positioned at building entrances or facing driveways with sky in the background, the camera uses True WDR to balance exposure across bright and shadowed areas simultaneously, keeping faces and number plates visible rather than washed out.

Built-In Microphone

The integrated microphone records audio alongside video, adding useful context to events at shopfronts, reception areas, or residential entries. Only a microphone is built in, providing one-way audio capture rather than two-way communication.

Best For

  • Residential Driveways and Entries: The 2.8mm lens covers wide approach angles at 106 degrees, while the 4mm option provides a more focused view down a narrow driveway or path where detail at distance matters more.
  • Small Business Shopfronts: 120dB True WDR manages the bright ambient light typical of glazed shopfronts, and AcuSense detection keeps alerts focused on people approaching rather than passing traffic triggering constant notifications.
  • Eave and Soffit Installations: The turret housing allows the camera head to be angled independently of its mount, making it practical for eave mounting where the coverage zone sits at an angle below the roofline.
  • Installations Requiring Local Storage Backup: With microSD card support up to 256GB, the IPC-T262H-MU can retain footage locally at the camera itself, providing a backup recording path independent of the connected NVR.

Why Choose the IPC-T262H-MU

The IPC-T262H-MU sits above basic entry-level turret cameras by combining a genuine 6MP sensor with AcuSense deep learning detection, a feature set that a standard 2MP or 4MP camera without AI classification cannot replicate. The human and vehicle filtering directly reduces the number of irrelevant alerts generated in outdoor environments, which is a practical advantage for both residential and small commercial installations. True WDR at 120dB handles backlit entry scenarios that simpler digital WDR implementations handle poorly. H.265+ compression means the camera makes better use of NVR storage capacity than an H.264-only alternative, stretching recording retention without requiring a larger drive. The IP67 rating confirms this is a camera built for year-round outdoor use in Australian conditions. Available through Security Wholesalers, the IPC-T262H-MU offers a well-rounded specification at the HiLook price point, making it a practical choice for installers and end users who want AI-assisted detection without moving to a full Hikvision commercial tier.

Buyer Decision Tips

Lens Selection – 2.8mm vs 4mm: Choose the 2.8mm lens when the camera is mounted close to the coverage zone and you need wide lateral coverage, such as a wall mount above a gate covering a broad front yard. Choose the 4mm lens when the mounting position is further back and you need to reach detail at longer range, such as viewing down a full driveway from under an eave or covering a corridor from one end. The 2.8mm provides approximately 106 degrees horizontally; the 4mm narrows to approximately 83 degrees but increases effective recognition distance.

IR Range and Mounting Height: The 30m IR range assumes a relatively unobstructed line of sight. When mounting at eave height above 3-4 metres and angling the camera steeply downward, the effective illuminated ground coverage will be shorter than 30m. For installations requiring long-range night detection beyond 30m, such as a long driveway or open yard perimeter, consider a camera with an extended IR range rather than relying on this model to cover distances beyond its specification.

Ideal Use Cases

Residential Driveway Monitoring

Mounted under an eave at the front of a property, the IPC-T262H-MU uses AcuSense detection to trigger alerts specifically when a person or vehicle enters the driveway, separating genuine events from pets or wind-blown foliage movement.

Retail Shopfront

Positioned above a shop entrance facing outward, the 120dB True WDR manages the contrast between interior lighting and bright outdoor ambient light, while the built-in microphone captures audio context alongside video during operating hours.

Office Building Entry

Covering a pedestrian entry or car park access point, the 6MP sensor provides sufficient detail for reviewing who entered and when, with the dual IR LEDs maintaining visibility through early mornings and after-hours periods without auxiliary lighting.

Apartment Complex Common Areas

For stairwells, courtyard access points, or ground-floor walkways, the compact turret housing mounts cleanly to walls or soffits, and the IP67 rating ensures it operates through wet weather in semi-exposed outdoor corridors.

Small Warehouse Side Access

Mounted at side gate entries or loading bay access points, the camera’s vehicle detection capability logs when delivery vehicles arrive after hours and generates alerts, while microSD local storage provides a backup recording path independent of the main NVR.

Choosing the Right Model

  • Choose this model if: You need a 6MP outdoor turret with AcuSense human and vehicle detection, a built-in microphone for audio recording, and IP67 weather resistance for eave, soffit, or wall mounting at residential or small commercial properties.
  • Choose a different model if: You need full-colour night imaging without IR switching to black and white – this camera uses infrared LEDs only, with no colour night vision mode. If colour-at-night is a requirement, a camera with white-light LEDs or a full-colour sensor would be more appropriate.
  • Choose a different model if: Your installation requires night vision beyond 30m, such as monitoring a long open driveway or yard perimeter. A bullet-style camera with extended IR range would provide better illuminated coverage at those distances.
  • Choose the HiLook IPC-T361H-MU if: You want the latest updated version of this model. The T361H-MU is the current replacement for this series and may include updated features or hardware revisions.

FAQs

  1. Does the IPC-T262H-MU support two-way audio?
No. The IPC-T262H-MU has a built-in microphone only, which means it records audio but cannot transmit sound back through the camera. There is no built-in speaker, so two-way voice communication is not supported by this model.
  2. What is the difference between the 2.8mm and 4mm lens versions?
The 2.8mm lens provides a wider field of view at approximately 106 degrees horizontal, suited to covering a broad area close to the camera such as a front yard or wide entry. The 4mm lens narrows the view to approximately 83 degrees but increases effective recognition distance, making it better suited to a long driveway or corridor where detail at range matters more.
  3. What does AcuSense detection actually do on this camera?
AcuSense uses deep learning to classify detected motion as either a human or a vehicle. This means the camera distinguishes between a person walking up a driveway and a cat crossing the yard. Alerts can be configured to trigger only on human or vehicle targets, reducing the frequency of notifications caused by irrelevant motion in outdoor environments.
  4. Is the IPC-T262H-MU suitable for permanent outdoor installation in Australian conditions?
Yes. The IP67 rating confirms full protection against dust ingress and resistance to water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for year-round outdoor mounting under eaves, on exterior walls, or on soffits exposed to rain and humidity typical of Australian climates.
  5. Can the IPC-T262H-MU record locally without an NVR?
Yes. The camera supports microSD cards up to 256GB, allowing it to record footage directly to a card inserted into the camera body. This provides a local backup recording path that continues to operate even if the connected NVR goes offline, which is useful for standalone single-camera installations or as a failsafe in larger systems.
  6. What PoE standard does this camera require, and what cable should I use?
The IPC-T262H-MU uses IEEE 802.3af PoE, which is the standard class supported by most HiLook and Hikvision NVRs with built-in PoE ports. Cat5e or Cat6 cabling is recommended for runs up to 100m. Using good quality cable and properly terminated RJ45 connectors ensures a stable connection and reliable power delivery over the full cable length. Available through Security Wholesalers, compatible PoE NVRs and Cat6 cabling are stocked alongside this camera.
