The Hikvision DS-2TD2628-7/QA is a mid-range thermal + optical bi-spectrum bullet camera. It is best suited to medium-distance perimeter detection, early fire-risk detection, and industrial / warehouse / yard monitoring.
Compared with the 10/QA, the 7/QA has a wider thermal view and slightly shorter practical detection range. The thermal lens is 6.9 mm with a 24.9° × 18.7° thermal field of view, while the optical camera has a 6.4 mm lens with a 53° × 28° field of view. It also supports vehicle/human classification, temperature exception alarms, fire detection, smoking detection, and sun-reflection filtering.
Best use cases for the DS-2TD2628-7/QA
1. Warehouse fire-risk monitoring
This is one of the strongest use cases.
The camera supports temperature exception alarms from -20°C to 150°C, with stated accuracy of ±8°C, and supports temperature rules including 10 points, 10 areas and 1 line.
Good locations include:
Battery charging bays
Forklift charging areas
Electrical switchboards
Compressor rooms
Machinery zones
Cardboard storage areas
Rubbish / waste corners
Loading docks
Pallet racking areas
The important point is that this is not a replacement for a compliant fire alarm system. It is better sold as an early warning / abnormal heat detection camera.
2. Waste bins, recycling areas and rubbish rooms
Very suitable.
The datasheet specifically lists waste incineration plants as an application, and the camera has fire detection and temperature exception features.
Use it for:

Industrial rubbish zones
This is a strong real-world use case because waste can heat up before obvious smoke or flame appears.
3. Medium-range perimeter protection
The 7/QA is a good balance between range and coverage.
The datasheet lists a VCA range of approximately 55.2 m for humans and 144.9 m for vehicles. DORI reference figures list human detection at 287 m, human recognition at 72 m, and human identification at 36 m, but those are reference calculations and real-world performance will vary.

For actual alarm triggering, I would use the VCA range as the more practical planning figure, not the maximum DORI detection figure.

This is a very practical use case.
The camera supports line crossing, intrusion detection, region entrance and region exit, with up to 8 VCA rules. It can also trigger SD recording, relay output, smart capture, FTP upload and email linkage.

The thermal channel is useful because construction sites often have poor lighting, dust, shadows, temporary fencing and inconsistent site lighting.

It is not for number plate capture. Use it to detect people or vehicles entering a protected area, then use standard optical cameras or LPR cameras for identification.

Because the accuracy is ±8°C, I would not sell it as a precision thermography camera. Position it as temperature exception monitoring — useful for alerting when something is much hotter than expected.

The camera supports a smoking detection algorithm.

Important caveat: smoking detection should be treated as a risk-reduction feature, not a guaranteed detection system in every environment. Camera angle, distance, lighting, background and smoke visibility will matter.

a refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable
loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the
goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major

(c) Our Warranties

and all material and work is provided to you without warranties of any kind,
either express or implied. We expressly disclaim all warranties including but
not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular
purpose.
(d) Manufacturer Warranties
Certain products, including particular models of IP security cameras and DVR/NVR
equipment, may come with a manufacturer’s warranty. The manufacturer’s warranty is
in addition to but may overlap with any rights and remedies you may have under
applicable law, including any Consumer Guarantees. If you are not considered a
“consumer” within the meaning of the ACL, the manufacturer’s warranty may be your
sole remedy. Many manufacturers’ warranties do not apply in a business or commercial
setting. Please contact the manufacturer if you would like to make a claim under
the manufacturer’s warranty.
(e) Repair, Replacement, or a Refund
If you wish to seek repair, replacement, or a refund for a product, please
contact us and we will explain the requirements to you. This may include you
providing evidence of the faulty product to us.
(f) Refund
You are not entitled to a refund for change of mind. If you are entitled to a
refund, we will only provide it once evidence of the faulty product is received
by us, or once we have received the product at our warehouse and inspected it
to assess whether it is eligible for a refund under these Terms. Any refund we
make will be by the same payment method used to purchase the product.
(g) Installed Products
Subject to this clause, we will not accept for return any product that has been
used, connected, installed, attempted to be connected or installed, or if your
product is custom-made or is a special buy product.
(h) Packaging
You must adequately package any product you are returning for our collection
to ensure that it is not damaged during return delivery to our warehouse. You
are also responsible for arranging the return delivery and the costs involved.
(i) Duty of Care
You have a duty of care for the product while it is in your possession. If
you damage products and then subsequently return them, you may be liable to pay
to repair the product to its original condition. In these circumstances, where
a repair is not economically viable, no refund will be made.
