Product Overview

Combining active deterrence with 4K AcuSense Gen2 analytics, the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL is a mini bullet camera built for outdoor perimeter coverage where passive recording is not enough. Featuring a 1/1.8-inch DarkFighter CMOS sensor and 8MP (3840 x 2160) resolution, it captures usable detail across car parks, loading docks, and building approaches even in near-darkness, with a minimum illumination of 0.0008 Lux at F1.0. Equipped with a built-in strobe light and audible alarm that trigger automatically on confirmed human or vehicle detections, the camera responds to intrusions rather than simply logging them. Two-way audio via the built-in dual microphones and speaker allows live voice communication directly through the unit. With 120 dB WDR, IP67 weather resistance, and a microSD slot supporting up to 512 GB, the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL suits demanding outdoor installations where both image quality and on-site deterrence are required.

Key Capabilities

Active Strobe and Audible Deterrence

When AcuSense Gen2 confirms a human or vehicle target, the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL fires its built-in strobe light and audible alarm automatically. This turns the camera into a first-response deterrent at perimeter entry points rather than a passive recorder.

AcuSense Gen2 Human and Vehicle Classification

Deep-learning analytics built into the camera classify targets as human or vehicle, filtering out irrelevant motion from animals, foliage, and wind. This focuses alerts on genuine events and supports line crossing, intrusion, and area enter/exit detection rules.

8MP 4K Resolution with DarkFighter Sensor

The 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensor captures 3840 x 2160 imagery at a minimum illumination of 0.0008 Lux, delivering usable colour detail in very low ambient light. The 2.8 mm lens achieves a detection range of 89 m and observation range of 35 m according to DORI standards.

Two-Way Audio via Built-In Microphones and Speaker

Built-in dual microphones and a speaker allow real-time voice communication through the camera, suited to gate access management, remote operator announcements, or visitor interaction at unmanned entry points.

120 dB Wide Dynamic Range

With 120 dB WDR, the camera maintains usable detail across scenes with mixed lighting, including building entrances with bright outdoor glare behind a person in shadow, or car parks lit by a combination of floodlights and dark zones.

Local microSD Backup up to 512 GB

An onboard microSD card slot supports up to 512 GB of local storage, providing continuous recording backup at sites with unreliable network connections or as a standalone edge recording solution at remote or unmanned locations.

Best For

  • Outdoor Perimeter Monitoring: The mini bullet housing is directional and wall-mountable, suited to covering fence lines, building approaches, and loading areas where long straight runs require a pointed camera position.
  • Active Deterrence at Entry Points: The onboard strobe and audible alarm respond to confirmed human or vehicle detections, making this camera appropriate for gated access points, car park entrances, and pedestrian access routes that benefit from a visible response.
  • Remote or Unmanned Sites: With edge recording via microSD and autonomous alarm triggering, the camera operates without constant operator oversight, suitable for construction sites, vacant properties, and after-hours commercial premises.
  • High-Contrast Outdoor Environments: The 120 dB WDR and DarkFighter sensor handle sunrise and sunset conditions, mixed artificial and natural light, and backlit entrance scenarios where standard cameras lose shadow or highlight detail.

Why Choose the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL

The DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL is one of the few 8MP mini bullet cameras in this class to combine AcuSense Gen2 human and vehicle classification with a built-in strobe light, audible alarm, and confirmed two-way audio in a single IP67-rated housing. A standard 8MP bullet records what happens. This model can trigger an immediate on-site response to a confirmed intrusion, announce a verbal warning via the built-in speaker, and log the event locally to a 512 GB microSD card, all without relying on a connected NVR or operator intervention. The DarkFighter sensor achieves 0.0008 Lux minimum illumination, outperforming many cameras in the same resolution tier in low-ambient outdoor environments. For installers and site owners needing a camera that acts as well as watches at outdoor perimeters, driveways, and yard entries, the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL is available through Security Wholesalers as part of the Hikvision AcuSense range.

Buyer Decision Tips

Lens Selection – 2.8 mm vs 4 mm: The 2.8 mm lens provides a wider horizontal field of view (approximately 105 degrees) with a DORI detection range of 89 m, suited to open areas, wide building facades, and broad car park coverage. The 4 mm lens narrows to approximately 90 degrees but extends DORI detection to 109 m, making it the better choice for longer driveways, pedestrian paths, or access corridors where you need more reach and subject detail at distance. Choose the lens based on the physical width of the area you are covering, not just the distance to the far end.

Strobe and Audio Alarm Configuration: The strobe and audible alarm on the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL are triggered by AcuSense detection rules, which means they only activate on confirmed human or vehicle targets – not on general motion. Before installation, plan the detection zones carefully to avoid triggering the alarm in high-traffic public areas where continuous activation would be disruptive or cause nuisance complaints. The camera allows schedule-based alarm operation, which is worth configuring for after-hours-only activation at commercial sites.

Ideal Use Cases

Warehouse and Industrial Yards

Wall-mounted at the perimeter of a warehouse yard or storage facility, the bullet housing directs coverage along fence lines and access routes. The 8MP resolution and 89 m DORI detection range on the 2.8 mm lens provide wide situational coverage over large open areas.

Car Parks and Vehicle Holding Areas

The AcuSense vehicle classification triggers the strobe and audible alarm when unauthorised vehicle movement is detected after hours. The 120 dB WDR handles the mixed lighting conditions typical of car parks with overhead lighting and dark zones between rows.

Gated Driveways and Access Control Points

Two-way audio through the built-in microphones and speaker allows operators to communicate with visitors or delivery personnel at a gate without a separate intercom. AcuSense face capture and line crossing detection can log entry events and trigger alerts.

Construction Sites and Vacant Properties

With local microSD recording up to 512 GB and autonomous alarm triggering, the camera functions effectively at sites without continuous network connectivity. The IP67-rated housing and operating range down to -30 degrees C support deployment in exposed outdoor conditions.

Loading Docks and Building Entry Points

The 120 dB WDR handles the high-contrast lighting at loading dock entries where bright daylight outside meets a shaded interior. The 4 mm lens option achieves a 109 m detection distance suited to monitoring long straight approaches from a fixed overhead position.

Choosing the Right Model

  • Choose this model if: You need an outdoor perimeter camera that responds actively to confirmed human or vehicle intrusions using a built-in strobe and audible alarm, and you also require two-way audio and 8MP resolution in a compact IP67 bullet housing.
  • Choose a different model if: Your site requires a wider viewing angle than a fixed lens provides – consider a motorised varifocal bullet camera for scenes where framing needs adjustment after installation. If the coverage area is better served by a ceiling-mounted panoramic or fisheye approach, a multi-sensor or wide-angle camera would be more efficient than multiple fixed bullet positions.
  • Choose a different model if: The installation site is indoors and a compact dome profile would be more practical. The bullet form factor and active deterrence features are designed for outdoor perimeter use, and a dome camera would suit internal corridor or reception coverage without the visible deterrence hardware.

FAQs

  1. How does the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL determine when to trigger the strobe and alarm?
The strobe and audible alarm are linked to the AcuSense Gen2 detection engine, which classifies targets as human or vehicle using deep-learning algorithms. The alarm only fires when a confirmed target is detected within a configured detection zone, not on general motion. You can set time schedules and sensitivity parameters to control when and how the alarm activates.
  2. Is two-way audio fully built into this model, or does it require an external device?
Two-way audio is fully built into the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL. The camera includes dual built-in microphones and a built-in speaker, enabling real-time voice communication in both directions through compatible Hikvision software or a connected NVR. No external microphone or speaker is required.
  3. What resolution does the camera record at, and how much storage does it need?
The camera records at up to 3840 x 2160 (8MP / 4K) using H.265+ compression. H.265+ significantly reduces file sizes compared to older codecs. For continuous 4K recording, plan for substantial NVR storage – typically 1 TB or more per camera per week at high bitrates, depending on scene complexity and recording schedule. The onboard microSD slot supports up to 512 GB for local backup.
  4. Can this camera be used with a third-party NVR?
Yes. The DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL supports ONVIF Profiles S, T, and G, and standard H.265/H.264 compression, making it compatible with many third-party network video recorders and video management systems. Full AcuSense analytics and active deterrence linkage functions work natively with Hikvision NVRs and compatible Hikvision VMS software.
  5. How does the DarkFighter sensor perform at outdoor night locations without additional lighting?
The 1/1.8-inch DarkFighter CMOS sensor achieves a minimum colour illumination of 0.0008 Lux at F1.0, which allows the camera to capture usable colour imagery under very low ambient light such as residual street lighting or moonlight. In complete darkness, the built-in strobe can provide illumination for detection events, enabling colour capture at the moment of activation.
  6. Does the bullet housing suit eave or wall mounting for outdoor perimeter coverage?
The mini bullet form factor is designed for directional wall or eave mounting, typically angled downward along a fence line, building face, or access path. The compact 74.4 mm diameter and 176.3 mm length make it manageable for standard junction box installations. IP67 protection ensures the housing withstands direct water exposure from rain and hose-down cleaning at industrial sites.
  7. Where can I purchase the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL and access the datasheet?
