Setup Guide: Hikvision DS-2CV2041G2-IDW Wi-Fi Camera to DS-7604NI NVR
Step 1: Prepare Your Devices
✅ Ensure:
- The DS-7604NI NVR is connected via Ethernet to your router.
 - The camera is powered using a 12V/1A power adapter.
 - The Wi-Fi signal is strong where the camera is installed.
 - The PC is connected to the same router as the NVR and camera.
 
Step 2: Connect and Configure the Camera
Option 1: Wired Setup for Initial Configuration (Recommended)
- Connect the camera to the router using an Ethernet cable.
 - Download and install Hikvision SADP Tool on your PC.
 - Open SADP Tool, and find the camera’s IP address.
 - Open a web browser and enter the camera’s IP (e.g., 
http://192.168.1.100). - Log in using:
- Username: 
admin - Password: The one created during activation.
 
 - Username: 
 - Navigate to Configuration > Network > Wi-Fi.
 
Step 3: Connect the Camera to Wi-Fi
- Go to Configuration > Network > Wi-Fi.
 - Enable Wi-Fi.
 - Click Search and select your Wi-Fi network (SSID).
 - Enter the Wi-Fi password.
 - Click Save and disconnect the Ethernet cable (if used).
 - Reboot the camera and wait for it to reconnect wirelessly.
 - Use SADP Tool or your router’s DHCP client list to find the new Wi-Fi IP address of the camera.
 
Step 4: Assign a Static IP to the Camera
To prevent future IP changes, bind the camera’s MAC address to a static IP in the router.
On Your Router:
- Log into the router’s web interface (
http://192.168.1.1). - Go to DHCP Settings > Address Reservation (name may vary by router).
 - Find the camera’s MAC address in the connected devices list.
 - Assign a static IP address (e.g., 
192.168.1.200). - Save and reboot the router.
 
On the Camera:
- In the camera’s web interface, go to Configuration > Network > TCP/IP.
 - Change IP Mode to 
Static. - Enter:
- IP Address: (same as reserved, e.g., 
192.168.1.200). - Subnet Mask: 
255.255.255.0 - Gateway: Router’s IP (
192.168.1.1). - Preferred DNS: 
8.8.8.8 - Alternate DNS: 
8.8.4.4 
 - IP Address: (same as reserved, e.g., 
 - Click Save and reboot.
 
Step 5: Add the Camera to the NVR
- Connect a monitor & mouse to the NVR.
 - Go to Menu > Camera > Camera Management.
 - Click Add Camera.
 - Choose Manual Add and enter:
- IP Address: 
192.168.1.200(or your assigned static IP). - Protocol: 
Hikvision - Port: 
8000 - Username: 
admin - Password: (Same as camera login)
 
 - IP Address: 
 - Click Apply & Save.
 
Step 6: Configure Recording Settings
- Go to Menu > Storage > Schedule Settings.
 - Set the recording type:
- Continuous (records all the time).
 - Motion Detection (records only when motion is detected).
 - Event-based (records based on smart detection events).
 
 - Click Apply and check if footage is saved.
 
✅ Final Checks
- Ensure the camera appears in the NVR Live View.
 - Verify the camera keeps the same IP after a router reboot.
 - Test recording and playback.
 - Improve Wi-Fi strength if video lags (use a Wi-Fi extender if necessary).
