Product SKU: A01
Product Overview
The Akuvox A01 is an IP-based access control terminal that combines a door controller and card reader in one compact unit, making it ideal for modern sites that want a cleaner install and simpler wiring. Designed for secure, everyday entry management, the A01 supports multi-frequency RFID cards as well as mobile credentials via NFC, giving users flexible ways to authenticate at the door. With network connectivity and browser-based configuration, it’s a practical choice for businesses needing reliable access control that can be deployed as a standalone door device or as part of a broader system.
Why Choose the A01
Choose the Akuvox A01 when you need a professional access terminal that reduces hardware complexity without sacrificing control. Because the A01 integrates the controller and reader together, it helps streamline installation, minimise wall clutter, and lower overall solution cost compared with multi-box setups. It supports both common RFID card frequencies and NFC mobile access, allowing you to accommodate staff, contractors, and visitors with the credential style that best suits your workflow. With PoE support, strong environmental protection for outdoor use, and web-based setup, the A01 is built for dependable daily operation in commercial and multi-tenant environments.
Key Capabilities
All-in-one controller + reader
The A01 integrates the access controller and card reader into a single device, simplifying design and reducing the amount of equipment required at the door. This all-in-one approach helps speed up installation, keeps cabling tidy, and makes it easier to achieve a clean, modern finish at entry points.
Multi-credential access (RFID + NFC)
Support for multi-frequency RFID cards and NFC mobile credentials lets you match access methods to your site’s needs. Use cards for straightforward staff access and enable NFC for convenient phone-based entry where required, helping improve user experience without compromising on control.
Networked IP operation
With TCP/IP connectivity over Ethernet, the A01 can operate as part of a networked access environment. This supports modern management workflows, improves scalability for multi-door deployments, and enables consistent configuration practices across sites and buildings.
Browser-based configuration
The A01 can be configured via a web browser, reducing the need for specialised on-site tools during setup. This makes commissioning and adjustments more efficient for installers and administrators, especially when standardising settings across multiple doors.
Outdoor-ready durability
With a robust build and high ingress protection rating, the A01 is suited to exposed entry points where weather resistance matters. This helps maintain consistent performance in real-world conditions such as rain, dust, and temperature variation—ideal for entrances, gates, and external doors.
Key Features
-
RFID + NFC credential support: Multi-frequency RFID capability supports widely used card types, while NFC enables phone-based access for users who prefer mobile credentials. This flexibility helps reduce friction at entry points and allows sites to adopt mobile access gradually without replacing the hardware.
-
802.3af PoE or 12V DC power: Power the A01 via PoE for a simpler, cleaner install with fewer power supplies, or use 12V DC where PoE isn’t available. This gives installers more options to suit existing infrastructure and helps reduce installation time on new builds.
-
Relay output + input support: With a built-in relay output and two inputs, the A01 can control a door lock and accept signals from peripherals such as exit buttons or door contacts. This supports a complete door control workflow and improves operational reliability at the access point.
-
Tamper support for added protection: Tamper monitoring helps detect unauthorised interference with the device, supporting better security oversight. This is valuable for public-facing entrances, shared buildings, and sites that want an extra layer of awareness around access hardware.
-
Weather-resistant IP-rated design: The A01 is designed for dependable use in outdoor or semi-exposed locations where moisture and dust are a concern. This reduces the risk of performance issues caused by the environment and supports long-term stability for external doors and gates.
-
Compact, professional finish: With a toughened glass front panel and aluminium frame, the A01 suits modern building aesthetics while supporting everyday wear. The compact footprint also makes it easier to position at door frames, pedestrian gates, and constrained entry areas.

FAQs
- Can the A01 be powered by PoE?
The Akuvox A01 supports 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), which allows you to power the device and provide network connectivity through a single Ethernet cable. This can simplify installation, reduce the need for extra power points, and create a cleaner finish at the door. If PoE is not available at the installation site, the A01 can also be powered using a 12V DC supply.
- What credential options does the A01 support?
The A01 supports multi-frequency RFID cards as well as NFC-based mobile access. This means you can continue using common RFID credentials for day-to-day staff access while also enabling NFC for users who prefer phone-based entry where appropriate. Having both options available makes it easier to accommodate different site requirements and supports a smoother transition if you plan to introduce mobile access over time.
- Is the A01 suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes, the A01 is rated IP65, which indicates strong protection against dust and water ingress. This makes it a suitable choice for outdoor or semi-exposed installations such as external doors, gates, and entry points that may experience weather. For best results, ensure the unit is installed according to recommended practices and that cabling and mounting are sealed appropriately for the environment.
