Junior Security Detective Academy

Spot the Risk Mission

Practise finding everyday security risks in a calm and sensible way.

A front entry area

Security risks are not always dramatic. Sometimes they are ordinary: a window left open, a parcel visible from the street, a side gate that does not latch, a garage remote left in a car, or a password written on a sticky note. Your mission is to notice these risks and explain the safer choice.

Your mission brief

  1. Circle three risks in a pretend house.
  2. Write a safer choice for each risk.
  3. Decide which risks need adult help first.
Safety rule: A junior detective notices and reports. A trusted adult decides what to do next.

Mission activity

Read each card. Choose the best action, then reveal the answer.

Something looks wrong

You notice a door is open when it is usually closed.

Tell a trusted adult. Do not go looking around alone.

Technology asks for a code

An app asks for a password or verification code.

Ask an adult before entering or sharing any code.

Privacy question

A camera could see more than the entry it is meant to protect.

Adjust the angle or ask an adult to check privacy.

To finish this mission, explain one thing you learned to a parent, carer or teacher. Good detectives can explain ideas simply and calmly.
