Best places to position your CCTV cameras Leave a comment

CCTV is only as effective as where you place your cameras. Positioning affects coverage, image quality, and even the lifespan of your system.

Always cover main entry points first: front and back doors, driveways, and garages. These are the most common access areas for intruders. Place cameras about 8–10 feet high to deter tampering while still capturing faces clearly.

Angles are just as important as height. A wide-angle camera near the driveway can cover cars, gates, and pathways in one shot. Narrow-angle cameras work well for corridors or entrances where detail is more important than coverage.

Avoid pointing cameras directly into the sun or bright lights, as glare can wash out footage. Consider placing them under eaves or weather hoods for protection from rain.

By carefully planning camera placement, you’ll avoid blind spots and ensure that every angle of your property is protected.
